Switching to Google Apps for Domains

We recently made the decision to test drive Google Apps for your Domain on our primary originalwebsolutions.com domain.

We have hosted our own email for the last 7 years fairly successfully, however it is always a pain point. SPAM and the general email support is very frustrating to keep up with and just isn't fun.

So I thought I'd give GMAIL for our domain a test drive and see if it is something we would recommend to clients for their email.

We can give them a solid email solution for only $50.00 per user a year. It comes with all the SPAM filter and other bells and whistles.

It was pretty easy to setup, all I did was:

Went There and Applied at http://www.google.com/a/
Typed in my Domain
Changed my MX Record
Setup 3 Users
Activated all 6 services
Setup virtual domains for each service

And that was pretty much it, even though it says it is still checking / verifying my MX records, the email works fine!

We'll see how this goes. The one problem I see is the disconnect between your Google Apps for Your Domain account and your regular Google user account. Not real seamless.

Anyways, we'll keep you guys posted if this is a solid solution we will recommend by trying it out on ourselves.
